Internships in quant research and software engineering

Every summer, we welcome ~80 talented interns in quantitative research and software engineering,
providing you with an opportunity to forge a path to a career at Two Sigma.

Quantitative Research teams use the scientific method and advanced techniques to develop predictive investment models and refine our market insights. All the while, we remain engaged in the academic community by attending conferences, sharing insights, and participating in lectures.

As an intern, you will help apply quantitative techniques to look for patterns in the world’s data and systematically test theories. You’ll learn from market experts, deepen your technical skills in AI-assisted development, and participate in seminars exploring how theory applies to our research process.

"I appreciate how interconnected the modeling and engineering teams are, and how much access we have to all of the frontier models, technology, and resources -- and how easy it is to get onboarded, and actually start building. It's exceeded my expectations."

A data system built for research and live trading

A mission-critical system feeds predictive data to models in simulations and live trading. It needed to be easier to use and more secure, with data updates synchronized across multiple data centers. Our intern used Python to improve how researchers access predictive data, a project that included designing and testing a Pythonic API, strengthening REST service security, synchronizing updates with Kafka and building a web interface for researchers.

Setting you up for success in your interviews

There's more to landing an internship here than your technical skills. Get tips on interviewing from interns who have bene through the process themselves.
