Puzzle: Common Scents

Dr. Voronoi leads you into a sealed diffusion chamber with an 8 × 8 tiled floor.

Seven floral specimens are set into the chamber floor, each hidden inside the exact center of a different tile. All are calibrated to identical potency: at any position, the nearest specimen alone registers, all farther scents being wholly masked. Where two or more are equidistant, you report them together.

You are led to a succession of marked tiles and asked to name every scent detected from that tile’s center. Three trials conducted with the chamber being cleared and replanted between each. The chamber is never planted the exact same way twice, and a given specimen is seldom detectable multiple times at a fixed location, so what is it that’s always constant?
